Dear Parents and Guardians,

Tonight we have our third grade music session.
Third grade students should arrive at 5:50pm so we can start at 6:00pm. Meet us in the Multipurpose room.

The PTA meeting will start at 7:00pm in the library.

On Thursday, June 1st, the construction workers will be pouring concrete again in the morning. We will NOT be able to allow cars to pull up and drop students off. Please drop students at the recreation center. We will have extra supervision to assist students in getting out of vehicles. Vehicles with a Handicapped sticker will be allowed in the school parking lot.

Thank you again for your patience with our construction.

Finally, we are REALLY hoping to have Ken Wesson speak to our school/parent community on August 23rd. We have a Donor's Choose grant under Linda Berger's name. If you would like to assist us with getting Mr. Wesson funded we would be most appreciative.

Afterward, the entire school is taking part in a Scavenger Hunt designed by our Third Grade Leadership. At 1:00 pm students will attend an assembly--The Magic of Science. It will be a fun-filled day!

Thank you, Central Park community for attending the May 19th Comedy Show.  Together we raised an impressive $1,477 for next year's classroom instructional materials.  A special thank you for Kaari Jacobs and family for donating the food and to Erica Wang for coordinating the event!

Comedy Sportz San Jose received rave reviews and many families have asked us to host them again next year.  If you would like an encore performance in the meantime, or you missed the show, you can always find them in downtown San Jose.  To purchase discounted tickets to their weekend show, visit cszsanjose.com and use code "Central Park."

A message from SANTA CLARA USD

Dear Santa Clara Unified families,

You may have heard of a gastrointestinal illness going around the state, including several school districts. This week, Santa Clara Unified began to see children with symptoms.

This particular illness is highly contagious and symptoms do not start until 1 to 2 days after exposure. Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhea, stomach cramps, poor appetite, and headache. It is spread primarily through handling items or touching surfaces contaminated with the virus, eating or drinking contaminated food or water, and by being next to a vomiting individual.

Administrators and staff, including school nurses, custodians, and teachers are working diligently at affected schools to keep the virus from spreading, following Santa Clara County Public Health Department guidelines and protocols. These include:

  • Sending exposure notices to families of children who may have been exposed in their classroom;

  • Following cleaning and disinfecting protocols for gastrointestinal illness until all students have been symptom free for 48 hours;

  • Educating staff and students on proper hand hygiene;

  • Voluntarily postponing or cancelling community events such as evening festivals at some schools; and

  • Asking those sick to stay home until symptom free for 48 hours.

We encourage parents to continue to send their children to school as long as they are healthy and not showing symptoms, practice proper hand hygiene by washing your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and especially after using the toilet, monitor your family for symptoms and keep them home until they are symptom free for 48 hours.

For more information, please contact the Santa Clara Unified School District Public Relations office at communications@scusd.net and check our website regularly for updates in our news items section.
